3 Things Things That Won't Fix Your Time + Money Problems (And What Will)

Here are the 3 of the most common things I see creative service providers doing to fix their time + money problems (and why they don't work / what to try instead) ↓


🖥 START A TEMPLATE SHOP

If you are already having trouble with capacity, marketing, growing an audience, sales (aka bringing money into your business consistently), & showing up for your business, starting a template shop is not going to solve your problems. In fact, it will add way more complexity (and more problems).

Not only does it take time to develop & set up the logistics of a template, for this to be a big part of your income you need to have an audience to sell it to. And there are way too many generic template shops out there with no clear audience + expertise collecting dust in forgotten corners of the internet.

If you are already having an issue with consistent sales, do not start a template shop. You will have a very hard time selling them.

There have been many creatives who enter my programs feeling totally defeated. They come in on day one and show me their shiny shop. They worked so hard on it. And they launched it… to crickets. With no marketing plan. No audience. And therefore, no sales.

If you build it, they won't buzz 🐝

Let's do some simple math. If you sell your template for $400 (about the average I see), you'd have to sell 25 to make $10K.

25 a month to make consistent $10K months.

Most of you don't even have 25 people on an email list or get 25 likes on your posts.

You have a hard time booking 1-1 clients consistently.

You're not going to sell 25 templates a month. At least not yet.

Try growing your personal brand first: getting clear on your vision, what makes you different, what your expertise is, and growing an aligned community around you. Not your skills. And certainly not a template shop.

✨ A REBRAND

As someone who recently went through a rebrand, yes it's a great way to show up in a new and elevated way. But a rebrand alone isn't going to fix your time & money problems.

It might save you some time creating assets. And it might help you stand out & attract clients. But not without you as the founder of your brand showing up & serving with consistency (one of the big focuses in GYOB).

I've seen people with the zero visual identity make multi seven figures. My mentor is one of these people. He has built an incredible personal brand. His audience loves him and will buy anything he puts out there.

I've worked with people who have the best visuals I've ever seen who are always struggling to get clients & make ends meet. It boggles my mind because they are sooo talented, but here's the issue: they lead with their skills rather than their expertise, personality, and POV.

And that's just not cutting it anymore.

A beautiful brand isn't going to solve your time & money issue. This is coming from a brand + web designer, so you know I am saying this in all honesty.

Try instead: Growing Your Own Brand before investing in the rebrand.

📲 SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY

Socials are a place for you to show up as your full, messy, real, authentic, whole self as the founder of your brand. It's where you build trust, where you learn + co-create with your audience, where you test & experiment. Where you figure out your POV and your voice as a founder.

It requires action from you. Tinkering behind the scenes to craft the perfect social strategy, or worse, hiring someone else to create it for you, is giving your power away as the human behind the brand.

I get it, social media can be really hard to navigate, but if you want to grow a brand your own way, you need less strategy and more action.
