Finding & Filling Overlooked Opportunities in Your Market

My favorite bit of business advice I ever got is “find a void."

In my 9-5 past life, it meant starting the content marketing department when that was still considered an intern job 🤭 and most of the marketing budget was going to radio spots and billboards.

Did I add Content Marketing to my already full time job at first with no compensation? Yes. Did it end up making me one of the highest paid people in the department? Also yes! (Keep in mind we're still talking music industry salaries).

In my business now, it means creating programs and products in the areas people seem to avoid.

“A void" = avoid 👌

Go to the places people are avoiding 🫣

Go where people don't seem to want to look, but really need to. That's where the biggest growth and breakthroughs happen. That's where you're going to make the most impact and get rich in the process.

It's Not You, It's Your Offers

In my Offer Garden, I've cultivated a variety of solutions tailored to address common yet overlooked challenges:

  • Service 2 Sales: Every service provider has a service page on their website. They are 99% god awful. I created a training + product to help them create it with ease, because even though updating this page is consistently put on the backburner — it's actually the biggest revenue generating page on your website and needs to be paid attention to.   • Launch Your Own Way: Creative service providers have no idea how to market their businesses. They've learned a skill (e.g. web design) but are lost with how to actually make it desirable enough for strangers on the internet to find it and pay them on a consistent basis. I'm really good at marketing. Also, a lot of marketing courses out there are by coaches and are all about “use my formula." I purposely put “your own way” because I think formulas (and most coaches) are bullshit (Enroll now)
  • Grow Your Own Brand: We're all avoiding actually putting the love & care into our own brands, favouring our client projects as they have an immediate $$ return. But this is catastrophic in the longrun. Neglecting our own brands is why we aren't growing. Full stop. Enter, my group program G.Y.O.B. (Join the Waitlist).

Think of it this way: you're not just throwing another option into the mix. You're giving your people exactly what they've been missing, all packaged with your unique style and perspective. It's about hitting those sweet spots that nobody else is, and in doing that, you're not just making an impact —you're making your mark.

Closing the Gap by Filling the Void

The opportunities for growth and success often lie in the spaces that others avoid—spaces filled with potential customers seeking solutions that no one else is providing.

Audit your own offers. Are they giving samey same? Or have you put your own unique, branded, expert flavor onto them?

And as you think about your next moves in business, look for opportunities in the voids.

What are people avoiding?Where are people moving on an old operating system or algorithm?What is everyone and their coach doing? (Do the opposite or inject with your unique POV so it is totally different)

Jumping into these overlooked spaces isn't about going against the grain just for the heck of it. It's about being smart and intentional with how you stand out. Sure, this road might have its bumps, but it's also filled with chances to craft something that truly clicks with your community, filling needs they probably didn't even know they had.
