My Unexpected Revelation After My First Viral Reel

I had something happened that I'm still wrapping my squiggly brain around.

A Reel I posted is going viral(ish - not sure the exact number to claim virality). Something I posted started picking up bit in views over the weekend. Growing by thousands of views by the hour, and resulting in over 1K additional followers so far. And over 230K views.

It took me 2+ years to grow to 5K followers, so over 1,000 new faces in 42 hours is pretty unprecedented. I always knew the power of Reels, because I saw so many creators I admired honing in on them as a top-of-funnel channel and growing a massive audience.

I've been consistently posting Reels for most of 2023. They've all gotten good traction. But this is the first one that has gone off.

Here's Why:

   1. It starts with a Hook: “In 2022 I made $450K in my brand & web design studio”

   2. It then has a contrasting statement: “This year I shut it down”

   3. It has cool B-Roll footage with me in it being kinda sillly from a recent photoshoot

   4. The caption is #relatable and heavy on POV

It's really not that much more complicated than that.

I think one of the reasons we make things that are actually simple complicated is that we don't have a clear POV. We aren't taking a stand. We aren't sure what our unique position in our industry is. We are afraid of getting visible.

Picture this: another week goes by and you haven't dedicated any time to your own brand.

Another week goes by and you feel frustrated, resentful, and scarce with money and time. You def don't have any time for Reels.

Not sure where the next client is coming from, and totally frozen with the next move to make that will get you the results you really desire.

But then you don't invest in your business because you don't have enough money or time.

Do you see the cycle?

But here's the revelation: it's astounding what unfolds when you start investing in your brand, when you dare to try something new, and when you embrace the beauty of taking messy action. The moment you decide to invest time, energy, and resources into your brand, you set off a chain reaction of growth and opportunity.

When you step out of your comfort zone and into the realm of what's possible, you begin to see shifts. Not just in your follower count or your view numbers, but in how you perceive your business and, more importantly, how others perceive you.

This viral moment isn't just a one-time things; it's a testament to the power of brand investment. It's a clear sign that when you pour into your brand, the world takes notice. It's an invitation to keep showing up, to keep taking action, and to keep pushing the boundaries of what you thought was possible.

So, do you see the cycle? More importantly, are you ready to break it? Let's take that messy action together and watch as our brands transform before our eyes.
