How to Sell Your Services Without the Fear of Being 'Salesy'

Get ready to show up, serve, and sell.

Are you familiar with that nagging concern, the one that whispers, "I don't want to come off as too salesy"? If this resonates with you, know that you're not alone. I this hear in every live workshop I host, and it's one that deserves attention.

Understanding the Sales of Your Business

First and foremost, let's address the elephant in the room: we are running businesses, not hobbies. The vitality of your business hinges on its ability to generate profitable sales. It's a straightforward equation that often gets lost in the fear of being perceived as pushy or overly aggressive in sales tactics.

The fear of being "too salesy" often stems from a deeper issue—a lack of confidence in your ability to present your services authentically, in your messaging, your point of view (POV), and your offers. It's a reflection of how you see your role and your belief in the value you provide.

I'll let you in on a little secret: I sell all the time. Yet, I never feel "salesy." Why? Because I have an unwavering belief in the transformative power of my services. My confidence in my POV is rock-solid.

The Path to Confidence Through Action

It wasn't always this way. There was a time when I was plagued by the same concerns. Back then, I wasn't as confident in my messaging or my POV. I lacked the evidence to sell in a way that felt genuine to me, which made my initial attempts feel forced—salesy, even.

But I didn't let that stop me. I showed up, again and again, pushing through the discomfort. And with each step, my confidence grew. Now, inviting my audience to engage with my services on a deeper level feels as natural as breathing.

At its core, sales is about showing up, serving your audience, and extending an invitation to them—an invitation to benefit from what you have to offer.

So, if you're wrestling with the fear of being "salesy," ask yourself: Is it truly about the sales, or is it a reflection of your confidence in your POV and your offers?

Remember, action begets evidence. Evidence begets confidence. If you're seeking confidence, you must initiate action. Start by taking small, consistent steps. Show up. Serve. Sell. As you do, you'll notice the anxiety around being "salesy" begin to dissipate, replaced by the satisfaction of seeing your business thrive.

Your Call to Action

Don't let the fear of being "salesy" hold you back. Embrace the actions that will build your confidence. As you do, you'll find that what once felt like selling becomes simply another way of serving your audience—and that's a win for everyone.
